Carney started karting at the age of twelve where he would show great skill behind the wheel before making the step up to Ginetta Juniors in 2024. The part American, part Australian driver from New York would spend his last two season in the Ginetta Junior category claiming a best finish of sixth in his debut year before claiming his maiden podium in cars in 2025 at Silverstone. He would qualify inside the top ten at every round with a few front row starts and multiple fastest laps across the season. This proved himself to have excellent pace and would consistently score good points across a race weekend at just fifthteen years of age.

Signing with Fortec Motorsport, the team has stated he is scheduled to do some testing across the winter break after completing his first test in the Formula 4 car earlier this month.

After signing with the team, Ethan Carney said: “I am very excited to join Fortec for the 2026 British F4 Championship. After spending the last few years in Ginetta Juniors, the move to single seaters continues my journey through the motorsport ranks. Having the support of the entire Fortec team, and their proven race-winning car, I am looking forward to getting to work over the winter and help build on the success the team enjoyed in 2025 ahead of next year’s Championship.”

Team Principal, Ollie Dutton, said: “We are really happy to welcome Ethan to the Fortec Motorsports team for the 2026 British F4 Championship season. We had a productive test with him in Wales, and we are excited to begin working together to help him achieve his ambitions.”
