He started karting at nineteen-years-old and went on to become the World Champion in X30 Mini in 2021. He would continue this success by claiming the WSK Champions Cup in 2023 as well as the FIA International Karting Ranking Driver Of The Year Award. He became a bright star in karting over the last few years before joining the F4 Saudi Arabian Championship for his first time in single seaters where he claimed fifth in the championship despite only racing in four of the ten rounds this season. He would claim two wins and a podium in the process immediately leaving his mark on the junior scene. He now joins JHR Developments for the 2026 season as he prepares for a winter filled with testing.

After signing with the team, Lewis Wherrell said: “I’m proud to announce that I’ll be racing for JHR developments for the 2026 British F4 season. I’d like to thank everyone involved at JHR for this opportunity. I can’t wait to get started and I’m hoping for a good year ahead for both me and the whole team.”

JHR Developments Team Principal, Steven Hunter, said: “We’ve had some really good test days so far with Lewis and he’s done quite a bit of running since the end of the season. He’s done a really good job so far. He’s been taking a lot of information onboard and applied what he’s learnt very methodically. With every test he’s gained in confidence and speed, so we’re looking forward to seeing Lewis out racing with JHR and I feel that he’ll be battling up the front in 2026.”
