The McLaren Junior Dries Van Langendonck has extended his championship lead by the end of the Brands Hatch weekend.

Van Langendonck is one of the upcoming stars of the future within the British F4 ranks. Claiming victory in his debut weekend at Donington Park last year was an excellent feat and by the end of the year had proven he can be quick and consistent. After competing in the Formula Winter Series with his current team, Rodin Motorsport, where he dominated the championship claiming nine race wins and a further three podiums across the fifteen-race season, he almost doubled Thomas Bearman’s points tally by season’s end.
Entering his first full time campaign as British F4 driver, he competes in the Rookie Cup as well and looks to be the second rookie cup driver in two years to take the overall honours in the process, following Fionn McLaughlin’s campaign in 2025. He started the season strong with a win in the opening round following it up with a fourth place in race two after starting twelfth in the partially reversed grid format. He would take another fourth place to end the weekend strong after crossing the line in first, but a post-race penalty dropped him down a few places. He would leave the opening weekend of the season with a fifthteen point championship lead over Joseph Smith and Ethan Jeff-Hall.
Brands Hatch Indy would see a more difficult qualifying for the Belgian driver, qualifying seventh overall and fourth in his group means he would have some work to do across the weekend. He would claim points in the first race with a decent result but with it being difficult to overtake plus a race littered with Safety Car and Red flag interference meant race time was minimal. Race two would see Langendonck get a great start from fifth before going onto the grass at Druids and almost losing it meaning he dropped down to fifth. He spent the rest of the race battling his championship rivals Jeff-Hall and Theo Palmer in a tight battle for seventh place but he would be unable to progress further up the field.
The final race of the weekend saw Van Lagendonck put on a stellar drive, starting from the pitlane after putting on dry tyres on a still greasy circuit, he would spend the race trying to get up the order alongside Tommy Harfield as his pace improved lap after lap and passing more cars on the wet weather tyres. He would catch championship rival Jeff-Hall in the final few minutes of the race at Druids and then get the better run into Graham Hill Bend before contact mid-corner would almost end both of their races. Fortunately for them, they continued on without any issues.
Van Langendonck would get to the lead shortly after and begin to pull away and claimed victory in an astonishing drive to extend his championship lead to twenty-three points. Heading into Snetterton, Van Langendonck would be looking to continue his strong performances as he is now the only driver to have finished in the points in every race this season.
