Blackthorn will be running a second Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo for the Donington decider with WEC Class winner Darren Leung as well as series debutant Nick Yelloly. Leung has already had success this season in British GT taking victory at the Silverstone 500 with Paradine Competition.
The team, like the Mahiki Racing McLaren being run this weekend, will be ineligible to score points this weekend due to be considered a late season entry. However, Blackthorn's Giacomo Petrobelli and Jonny Adam are one of four squads able to win the GT3 title.
The team has the maximum compensation time during pit stops due to Leung's victory earlier in the year meaning they will be fighting an uphill battle. However, Donington is a circuit where Leung has enjoyed success previously taking his maiden GT3 victory here in his second race in the class and then one year later, claiming the GT3 title despite being at a 13 point deficit heading into the weekend.
Yelloly made a switch to Acura at the start of 2025 in the US as the winner of the 24 hours of Le Mans, Spa and Nurburgring has had great success over the years becoming a top name in the endurance scene.
With the announcement, Darren Leung said: "My family and I love British GT so I'm always keen to race when time allows. Nick and I have also known each other a while, we're both from Yorkshire and have spoken about racing together in the past, so Donington feels like a good fit. There's no pressure and minimal expectations - we're there to enjoy ourselves.
"I've learned a lot this year from swapping between the BMW and McLaren, and this weekend is another opportunity to increase my experience with another manufacturer. I'm also in Barcelona the week after with Paradine, and the logistics would have been unnecessarily complicated if we'd raced together at Donington."
