Yasser Shahin and Garnet Patterson will join Optimum Motorsport for the Silverstone 500, driving instead of Mike Price and Callum Macleod.

Price and Macleod are unable to race in the season opener due to commitments with Yacht Racing. This means Optimum Motorsport needed a replacement for the Silverstone 500 and that being Shahin and Patterson. The pair no stranger to one another, have driven in GT World Challenge Australia and Asian Le Mans Series together, while also being regular participants in the Bathurst 12 Hour event, with Patterson having competed with Optimum Motorsport at this years event.

Shahin also has had a fair amount of success across the globe, taking class victories at Le Mans and two GT World Challenge Australia titles. He also finished runner-up in the FIA WEC season in 2024.

With the announcement, Garnet Patterson said: “It’s great to reunite with Yasser at Silverstone as part of Optimum’s GT3 line-up for British GT’s season-opener. Yasser and I have had strong results together in the past, and I really enjoyed being part of Optimum’s team at Bathurst earlier this year, so I’m looking forward to bringing everything together for the UK’s blue riband GT race.”

Yasser Shahin added: “It’s always extremely enjoyable to be on a GT grid, and what better place to be than an iconic circuit such as Silverstone? Vying for the coveted RAC Trophy makes it even more special.”
