Optimum Motorsport become the first team to be announced with an entry into the GT4 category as the team of Harry George and Luca Hopkinson make switch from RAM Racing and Mercedes-AMG to McLaren for the upcoming 2025 season. This means Optimum will be running two new line-ups for 2025 with one GT3 and GT4 entry confirmed but with pairings familiar to one another in an attempt to reclaim success in each category

In 2024 the team of George and Hopkinson made finished 7th in the overall standings and fourth of the Mercedes cars. Last year was Hopkinson's first year in British GT after a two-year stint in Ginetta Juniors. Meanwhile George will enter his third GT4 Season after racing with Enduro Motorsport and Mercedes-AMG in 2023 as well.

They had their best result of the season at the final weekend in Brands Hatch where they finished fourth overall which has given Hopkinson a huge amount of confidence heading into 2025 as he states: “I’m super excited to get to work with Optimum this year as I head into my second year in GT racing. I’m looking forward to carrying the momentum from the end of last year into 2025 with a good team and team-mate around me. We’ll give it our best shot!”

Harry George reiterates his optimism now Hopkinson is in his second season: “This is my third year in British GT now, the first year we had some difficulties and last year was much improved with more regular podiums. With Luca now in his second year, and in a car, I know well and a front running team, I’m optimistic we can run at the front of the grid this year. Can’t wait to get going!”
