Joe Wheeler will partner James Townsend for the upcoming British GT Season in Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport.

It was confirmed at the start of the year that Townsend Racing would be making it’s British GT debut partnered with the Fox Motorsport brand, James Townsend would run as an owner driver in the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo after years of competing with Fox Motorsport, winning in class of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge and Ginetta GT4 Supercup as well as being a podium finisher in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

He will be joined by Joe Wheeler for the 2026 British GT Season. Wheeler enters his fourth season in the championship, racing in in both Lotuses and Ginetta’s. The pair first drove as teammates last season with Mahiki Racing at Donington Park and head into 2026 with experience under their belt.

With the announcement, Joe Wheeler said: “I can’t wait for the season to start with Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport. I know James well from our time together previously in British GT and with Fox being a proven race-winning British GT team in both GT4 and GT3, I don’t think we could be in a stronger position.”

Team Principal Paul McNeilly added: “It’s fantastic to welcome Joe to Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport for the 2026 season. He and James know each other well from having driven in the same British GT team previously, so we know already that they have a strong working relationship. We’ll use the time we have pre-season to get both drivers used to the Aston Martin so we can start the season in the strongest position possible.”
