The latest addition to the British GT GT4 grid is Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport as they make will join the grid full time in 2026.

James Townsend and Fox Motorsport have reunited for the 2026 British GT Season confirming a new partnership with a new entry under Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport. The team will field the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 with Townsend driving. The team making the transition to AMR allows Fox Motorsport to run in both British GT and the GB4 championship. They are yet to confirm who will be his co-driver for the season.

Fox Motorsport made a one-off appearance in 2023 at the Donington finale with a Lamborghini where they claimed the Silver-Am pole in GT3. They have been multiple time champions in Ginetta GT competition and debuted in British GT back in 2013 winning in the GT3B class. Townsend has been successful with Fox Motorsport in the past, claiming wins in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge and Ginetta GT4 Challenge as well as the GT Cup. He has also taken a podium in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

With the announcement, James Townsend said: “This is the biggest thing I’ve done in motorsport, so creating Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport and reuniting with the team I’ve achieved most of my successes with, was a no-brainer. This is part of a multi-year strategy to push forwards with my own racing career and to create and strengthen a real relationship with one of the most iconic sportscar manufacturers of all time in Aston Martin. Who knows where this could lead in the future.”

Fox Motorsport Team Principal, Paul McNeilly, said: “It’s fantastic to be back in the British GT Championship, the series that really enabled us to promote our abilities and achievements at an elite level when we first entered more than a decade ago. To be able to reunite with James, one of our most successful drivers, to create Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport, is equally thrilling. To become an Aston Martin Racing partner team represents another step forward for our team. It’s our target to establish ourselves as the benchmark Aston Martin GT4 team in the UK and with the championship-winning experience we have in the team, we have every intention of doing just that. We can’t wait for Silverstone.”
