Race 1 of the Snetterton BTCC weekend saw Dan Cammish take victory from pole in a masterclass of a defensive drive.
The start of the race saw Cammish defend from Tom Ingram off the line and throughout the opening lap. But disaster further back for the reigning champion left Jake Hill at the back after contact by the battling Toyota's. Hill and Stephen Jelley came into the pits at the end of the lap after Jelley had a puncture from contact as well.
Ash Sutton making three places in the opening couple of laps fought his way into the battle for the lead sitting in third behind Ingram. Behind them Max Hall and Gorden Shedden made contact on lap 4, causing both to retire from the race.
Ingram put Cammish under significant pressure by the half way point but the NAPA driver held firm against the Hyundai. However, Sutton continued to keep Ingram on his toes as he continues to help his teammate in front maintain the lead while aiming to make progress himself.
Mikey Doble as the only hard tyre runner in the top 10, sat in 9th place trying to keep hold of his position to use the two softer compounds later on.
As the race reached it's final phase, Cammish begun to pull away as he looked to cement his lead all while Sutton started to attack Ingram. But, the Hyundai managed to defend well when Sutton made his final assault.
Cammish took the first win of the day in an excellent drive defending from Ingram in second while Sutton rounded out the podium.
Daniel Rowbottom finished ahead of Dan Lloyd who claims the Independent class win. Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton finished 6th and 7th respectively while Chris Smiley, Mikey Doble and Daryl DeLeon round out the top 10.
