After a year out racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Championship, Dan Lloyd will make makes his return to the BTCC with the Restart Racing team in their new Hyundai's.

Lloyd joins Smiley to complete the two car lineup as both look to take Independents wins and potentially overall wins throughout the season.
Lloyd has had many on and off campaigns throughout the years, making his debut in the BTCC in 2010, in a one off outing in the Vauxhall Vectra at the Croft weekend. Out of the three races he would score points in two of them with a 7th in race one and 8th in race two.
Then after a six year hiatus from the championship, he would return for the 2016 season for 9 races with Eurotech Racing in the Honda Civic. Once again impressing, he would score points in six of the nine races finishing 20th in the standings with 36 points.
He would go on to compete again in another partial season campaign in 2017 in the MG, which was struggling in comparison to other manufacturers, he managed to score a few points before dropping out after the 12th race.
2018 would fair a lot better for Lloyd, starting his campaign a third of the way through the season in the Honda Civic with BTC Norlin Racing, Dan would take his maiden victory at the third race at the Croft round before once more disappearing from the grid at the end of the season.
A few years later, Lloyd would make his return to the grid in 2021, making it his first full season in the BTCC, despite having competed in 44 races by this time. He would take home points throughout most the season claiming 4 podiums in the back half of the year to round out a solid first full time season.
2022 he would move to Hyundai where he would better himself, taking three wins that season finishing 10th in the standings, his best finishing result come seasons end.
The following year would be the last time he raced in the series, competing in the Cupra León. While the car did not fair so well, Lloyd still showed good pace claiming points in the majority of races showing a good level of consistency.
However, a setback due to injury meant he had to work tirelessly to return to the BTCC grid, having a lot of determination and also having a few years of experience, means he is a certain benefit for Restart Racing.
Eager to get back behind the wheel of the I30 N, where he was most successful, Lloyd stated: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be back on the BTCC grid with Restart Racing. The last 12 months have been a rollercoaster – I’ve had to fight harder than ever to get back to this point, but that’s only made me hungrier."
“When Pete Jones contacted me about the seat and the investment in the car, I knew exactly where I wanted to be. I know what the Hyundai is capable of, and with the team’s commitment to the best package possible, I’m confident we can be right in the mix this season."
“I’ve got Tom Hunt lined up as my engineer, he ran me in the Cupra and has a fantastic pedigree from his time with Team Dynamics, so having that familiarity and experience alongside me is another big positive. I can’t wait to get to work and see what we can achieve together.”
