Nick Halstead has been announced by Power Maxed Racing as their fourth driver and will race for the remainder of the season.

This is the first time Power Maxed Racing will run a four-car lineup in the BTCC with Halstead returning to the BTCC and PMR after leaving at the end of last season. Halstead started his career in Ginetta GT5 Challenge in the AM Class for 2017 and 2018 where he would go on to win the AM class championship in the second year. In 2019 he would then move on to race in various different series including TCR UK where he scored a pole position and a podium as well as the Britcar Endurance Championship claiming a pole position and podium there as well.
He would then move to Ginetta GT4 Supercup in 2020 claiming third in the AM class with three wins and fifthteen podiums before joining the British GT grid in 2021 where he would claim a podium in the GT4 category. He would also make his BTCC debut that year with a one-off outing at Croft. He would remain in the British GT Championship for 2022 claiming a victory in GT4 and a further podium in the season to finish seventh in the standings.
He would return to the BTCC in 2023 where he would race for Excelr8 claiming a best finish of seventh in his second weekend in the series. He would stay with the team in 2024 claiming three points finishes throughout the season before switching to Power Maxed Racing for 2025. He would join the team at the second round of the season and would claim a couple more points finishes before leaving at the end of the season.
Returning to the team in 2026, Power Maxed Racing now supports the four-car lineup of Mikey Doble, Aidan Moffat, Dexter Patterson and Halstead for the remainder of the season.
After signing, Nick Halstead said: “I’m really pleased to be returning to Power Maxed Racing and being back on the BTCC grid. Since moving to Australia, I’ve had some great opportunities to continue racing, but the BTCC has always been where I wanted to be competing. It’s great to be back with a team I know well, and I’m looking forward to getting started again and seeing what we can achieve together.”
Power Maxed Racing Team Principal, Adam Weaver, said: “Expanding to four cars is a significant step for Power Maxed Racing and reflects the continued progress the team has made in recent seasons. It’s a credit to everyone involved, both on and off-track. When we looked at the opportunity to add a fourth entry, Nick was a natural fit. He understands how the team operates, integrated well in 2025, and has continued to build experience since then. With it also commemorating the anniversary of the fire, with Nick providing so much support in getting back racing this time last year, it’s very fitting that he is getting in the car at Knockhill. We’re pleased to welcome him back and look forward to working with him again.”
