In an announcement video on social media, Team Vertu confirmed that reigning BTCC Champion Tom Ingram will stay with the team for 2026.

The now two time BTCC Champion and Team Vertu put out the statement on Instagram in a entertaining manner. After scoring eighteen podiums in 2025, seven of those being race wins, to go on to win the title, it looked highly unlikely he'd make the swap to another manufacturer or constructor but the team officially confirms Ingram, much like Chilton, will remain in the fold.
In the announcement, Tom Ingram jokingly says: "I'm sorry, it appears that I and the rest of Team Vertu have created frankly an unforgettable season of the BTCC.
"The events that took place on track this year, including but not limited to the 18 podiums, the Wingfoot Award and obviously the championship, is something that we are going.... to take learnings from.
"I extend my heartfelt apologies to any of the other teams that may have wanted me to drive for them this year. It ain't happening. I'm staying with the Manufacturers and Constructors Champions.... Team Vertu ExcelR8. Why would we ruin a good thing?"
"So as we look forward to 2026, myself and Team Vertu are committed to improving ourselves, the cars, and the incredible experience we bring to each race weekend in the calendar. We hope you can forgive us and we aim to be even better next year. Yours sincerely, Tom Ingram and Team Vertu."
