BTCC: Lloyd takes first victory of the season with win at Silverstone

Dan Lloyd took race 1 victory in an excellent drive and his first win of the season and the twelfth different driver of the season to win.

Daryl DeLeon started on pole ahead of Gordon Shedden and Jake Hill while the championship contenders started further down the field so opportunity for someone different to take victory.
DeLeon would start well to maintain the lead and Shedden and Hill fought over second leaving Dan Lloyd to take advantage and overtake Hill. Shedden would put pressure on DeLeon into the final part of lap 1 taking the lead across the line before DeLeon ran wide into Copse and dropped a couple of places. Lloyd would then attack Shedden into Brooklands finding his way up the inside to take the lead.
Further down the field, Ingram and Sutton made up a couple of places early on with Sutton finding his way into 9th and Ingram into 11th. Ingram wojld make another olace against Charles Rainford after he made contaft with the NAPA before putting Ash Sutton in his mirrors on the run up to Brooklands, passing Sutton on the exit and into 9th place with a solid early drive.
Meanwhile, Hill would make his next overtake, passing Shedden to move up to second and began to put significant pressure on Lloyd for the lead. The top four would continue to scrap with Lloyd leading from Hill, Shedden and Senna Proctor. Ingram would make another place into eighth surpassing DeLeon who was struggling with his tyres significantly. Sutton wouldn't be too far behind Ingram as he would follow through a lap later moving into 10th place.
Dan Rowbottom would suddenly come under attack from Ingram as the Hyundai tries to pass NAPA car, using the better exit on Luffield to get passed the Ford. Rowbottom would use his extra turbo boost over Ingram to put pressure on the Hyundai but Rowbottom couldn't quite pull alongside him. Rowbottom would soon let his teammate by meaning Sutton was back right behind his rival.
Proctor would drop away from the top three drivers and started having to defend from Aiden Moffat and Josh Cook in the second half of the race. Cook would use Moffat's attention on Proctor to make a move on the exit of Copse and the run into Maggots and Becketts to complete the move into fifth place.
Nic Hamilton would have an engine failure at the same time Tom Chilton would have a puncture. Hamilton would stop on the side of the road with his engine on fire and Chilton would pull into the pits. A Safety Car would be deployed as the fire continued to blaze.
The race would end up Safety Car conditions leaving Lloyd to take race victory ahead of Hill and Shedden in an excellent race from all three drivers. Proctor would finish fourth ahead of Cook and Moffat in fifth and sixth. Ingram would finish seventh gaining an extra championship point on his rival Sutton who finished eighth. Rowbottom would claim ninth while Morgan completed the top 10.
