The 2026 Season will see a number of changes to the series with new entries, changes in lineups and new manufacturers coming into the series.

TBL’s (TOCA BTCC License) are what teams are given for how many cars they can run across the 2026 season. This confirms to TOCA the maximum number of cars that are expected to be run by the teams in their 2026 campaign. However, it does not guarantee that all teams will use all their TBL’s at every round meaning that despite having twenty-six TBL’s in total given out, we may have a couple less cars on the grid for the first race of the season. Here is what each teams TBL’s look like, and the current status of how each team is shaping up for 2026.
Alliance Racing
Alliance Racing will once again maintain their four car TBL for 2026 as they have maintained for the last couple of years. Over the last few years, the team has run the Ford Focus ST as a manufacturer entry in partnership with reigning Teams Champions NAPA Racing UK. However, at the start of last year, it circulated the paddock that Alliance and NAPA Racing UK were looking at rear wheel drive options for 2026 with various options being surveyed. However, it remains unconfirmed what they will be running. Furthermore, their driver line-up has yet to be announced which is currently the case for the majority of the field.
Excelr8 Motorsport
The 2025 Constructors and Manufacturers champions with Hyundai look to maintain their four-car squad for 2026 just like Alliance Racing. Remaining in strong partnership with Team Vertu and Hyundai, they have already confirmed one of their drivers for 2026 in Tom Chilton who is entering his fifth season with the team. The team has yet to announce any other drivers as current driver champion Tom Ingram as well as 2025 teammates Adam Morgan and Senna Proctor are yet to confirm their plans for 2026.
West Surrey Racing
WSR have been given three TBL’s for 2026 as opposed to the four they had last season. This is likely due to Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport making the switch from a one car BMW programme with WSR to a two car Toyota programme with Speedworks Motorsport for 2026 meaning it is likely we’ll see a similar team lineup for the upcoming season of two cars being run by LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR and a third WSR car joining them. However, the plans for WSR with what they will be running and who with is yet to be confirmed by the team as their plans remain unconfirmed at this time.
Speedworks Motorsport
Currently the TBL holder with the most confirmed, it has been announced that the team will maintain their four TBL’s for 2026 with a few changes to their lineup. It was announced in November that Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport would run a two-car lineup with Toyota in close partnership with Speedworks Motorsport using two of the four Speedworks Motorsport TBL’s. This confirms the continued partnership of Toyota and Speedworks into 2026. Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport have also announced both their drivers for 2026 with three-time BTCC Champion Gordon Shedden and former Independents champion Árón Taylor-Smith being announced to join the team and solidify their lineup.
Restart Racing
Restart Racing will maintain their two TBL’s for 2026 after a successful 2025 campaign claiming both the Independents Drivers and Teams Championships after swapping the Cupra Leon for the Hyundai i30 N Performance Fastback for that season. It is unconfirmed who will be in there driver lineup but with the team having some solid momentum heading into 2026 and likely maintaining the Hyundai for the upcoming season, can they defend their championship against some difficult competition for 2026?
Power Maxed Racing
From the fiery ashes of the whole operation almost going up in smoke, PMR had a rollercoaster of a 2025 with their facilities burning down including their Vauxhall Astra’s and a number of historic BTCC cars from days gone, the team with little equipment and some help from Un-Limited Motorsport and the Patterson family, managed to go racing in the final couple of rounds with the Cupra Leon giving Mikey Doble a shot at the Independents drivers championship. While they came up short, the team spirit was at it’s highest as the team has been given three TBL’s for 2026 and have announced that they are running Audi S3 Saloon’s in their 2026 campaign. The first time since 2019 an Audi has been entered into the BTCC, it will be the first time since 2016 that Power Maxed will not be running the Astra.
One Motorsport
One Motorsport have been given two TBL’s for the upcoming BTCC season after a difficult period for the team having to pull out half way through the 2025 season due to the Team Owner Steve Dudman’s health concerns. The team has been given the TBL’s and will potentially be running the Honda Civic Type R again for 2026 but nothing has been confirmed by the team at this time.
Un-Limited Motorsport
The Un-Limited Motorsport team have been given two TBL’s for the 2026 season dropping from three for 2025. The team has been rumoured to be offered Ford Focus’s from NAPA Racing UK and Alliance Racing for 2026 but has yet to confirm anything at this time. The teams driver line-up is also yet to be announced and with a lot of rumours flying about the paddock.
Plato Racing
The newest arrival for 2026 but certainly not new to the BTCC grid, two time BTCC champion with the most victories of all time at ninety-seven, Jason Plato makes his return to the grid but as a team owner taking on a new challenge in his career. Partnering with RML, the team is looking to make an impact in 2026 joining the BTCC grid. No drivers or car has been announced yet but rumours of various manufacturers such as Mercedes and all new sponsors not on the BTCC grid have been coming out of the paddock and all will be revealed in due course.
