2025's British GT grid is starting to form with the announcement that Spirit Of Race will be the first confirmed entry.

British GT have started a slow announcement of the upcoming seasons grid with Spirit Of Race becoming the first team to be confirmed.

The team will run the Ferrari 296 GT3 meaning the car will make it's debut in the British GT series and be Ferrari's return to the series for the first time in five years after competing in the 2020 edition of the Silverstone 500. The Tempesta team did make an attempt to bring the Ferrari 296 to the Silverstone 500 in 2024 by had to withdraw before qualifying after a crash in practice. The last time a Ferrari was run in a full season of British GT was over a decade ago.

Spirit of Race will feature Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin's signature green livery on the AF Corse UK based Ferrari. The team of Cameron and Griffin previously ran for the Scuderia back in 2020 racing at the majority of the rounds in the manufacturers 488 GT3, the predecessor to the 296.

With the next GT3 entry to be confirmed Thursday at 5pm, and news circulating over the last few months about other teams, what are the other potential entries waiting to be confirmed?

Steller Motorsport makes the switch to Corvette’s

After spending 2024 struggling with the Audi GT4 where they would only score a 10th place at the penultimate round in Brands, Stellar decided to make the switch to become the next customer team for Corvette and is aiming to use it in British GT for 2025 alongside other campaigns in ELMS, Michelin Le Mans Cup and GT World Challenge. The team will be testing the car across the winter period upon its arrival and looking to get themselves back up the field in all series where they have claimed titles previously.

The car has been seen to have initial success across a number of different categories with TF Sport taking a double podium at the 8 hours of Bahrain in WEC while claiming another eleven victories and twelve pole positions across all series in it’s first year of racing.

It will be the first time in over a decade that Corvette race in British GT with the Steller Motorsport team looking to try to make it successful in Britain like it has already been in the US and the rest of the world.

The Team Principal Gary Blackham stated: “We looked long and hard at the available options in GT3 before opting to join the Corvette family. The Z06 GT3.R is a stunning car, beautifully engineered and designed from the off as a true endurance racer. The team, and our customers that have seen the car already, are truly excited by the prospect of racing with one of the most successful brands in sportscar racing. A Corvette hasn’t raced in British GT for more than 10 years. But the Z06 has already achieved much success in America, and I truly believe it can shake up the established order in the UK. It’s a championship we are keen to be part of subject to the right driver combination.”

The BMW Evo to make its debut in 2025

Century Motorsport announced that they had made a purchase of the new BMW M4 GT3 Evo continuing their partnership with the German manufacturer. Aiming to compete in British GT and GT World Challenge Europe on a full-time basis for 2025, the new BMW Evo took part in 24 hours of Dubai last weekend where it won overall in its debut.

The updated car looks like a significant upgrade for the teams and would help Century Motorsport head back towards the front of the British GT field ahead of a successful first outing with the car. The car had been changed to be more focused on driveability, efficiency and reliability with significant changes to the aerodynamics giving the car a more aggressive look.

Team Principal Nathan Freke said: “British GT has been a successful mainstay for Century Motorsport, and we are hungry to win another GT3 championship whilst also becoming regulars in Fanatec GT World Challenge. We have enjoyed our time so far in this new series and are keen to make our mark on the global stage.”

FF Corse looking to make a return to British GT

After a five-year period of absence from the British GT grid, FF Corse are looking to return to the series and in turn, bring Ferrari back to the championship. The highly successful Ferrari Challenge team looks to use the Ferrari 296 GT3 after having last raced at Silverstone in 2020 which was a further six years after their previous full time campaign where the customer team won at Rockingham.

Ferraris don’t often race in British GT, with the 296 GT3 attempting to make a one off appearance for this years Silverstone 500 race with the Tempesta team before withdrawing after a crash in practice.

Founder of FF Corse Anthony Cheshire in an interview with Autosport stated: “It’s one of the key marques of GT, so it is really important to have a Ferrari in a British series and we want to be the people to bring Ferrari into British GT. We want to become a regular competitor, and you just need to look at the standard to see it’s a great championship, so it would be good to get involved. It’s the pinnacle of British racing – we’ve been busy with our European programmes, but we’ve always had one eye on British GT.”
